In June 2019 Creative Case NORTH hosted two North Area sector events exploring meaningful Board engagement with the Creative Case for Diversity. As part of these events we asked four North Area organisations to share with us their approaches to the Creative Case.
Company of Others is a dance theatre company based in the North East of England, creating work which highlights and shares stories of the human experience, drawn from the diverse communities they work with. Artistic Director Nadia Iftkhar shared with us how they approached Board development and how they engage Board members with the Creative Case for Diversity.
Based in their unique creative building in Manchester, Contact Theatre works locally, nationally, and internationally to provide life-changing opportunities for the next generation of artists, creative leaders and audiences. Artistic Director and Chief Executive Matt Fenton shared how they have placed young people at the decision-making heart of everything and the impact this has had on their artistic programme.
Bradford based arts venue Theatre in the Mill are committed to developing, supporting and presenting socially responsible work that reflects the environment within which they are situated. Artistic Director Richard Warburton shared how they reviewed their producing model, considering how they respond to the Creative Case for Diversity and how they articulate it internally and externally.
TIN Arts is a nationally leading inclusive dance organisation based in the North East, working to identify and remove barriers to dance and the performing arts. Martin Wilson and Dance Artist, Becki Parker shared how their work on the Creative Case reaches across their organisation and programmes and directly influences who they engage and how, the work generated, and how they talk about, present or share artistic outcomes.
We’ve collated their case studies and they’re now available to download from our website.
